CapIt is a powerful and versatile capture tool designed to significantly extend the native capture module of EDIUS. Running in the background alongside EDIUS, CapIt supports modern workflows such as NDI, streaming media, and GPU‑accelerated MP4 encoding. It is a flexible, feature‑rich extension that integrates seamlessly into EDIUS.
With CapIt, you can record from a wide range of sources, including USB cameras, Blackmagic DeckLink cards, NDI streams, RTMP/HTTP/RTSP/SRT feeds, Z‑CAM devices, and even smartphone screencasts. It supports real‑time encoding in H.264/H.265 MP4 with GPU acceleration, as well as Grass Valley HQ/HQX and AVC‑MXF formats for professional workflows. For projects under high production pressure or live applications such as replay, CapIt enables editing during ongoing recording via growing MXF files — allowing you to start editing in EDIUS without waiting for the recording to finish.
Beyond compatibility, CapIt offers practical features that make a real difference: pause and resume recording, automatic file splitting, date‑based folder organization, and live video functions such as logo overlays, blur, and mosaic effects. Audio handling is equally advanced, with independent audio capture, channel monitoring, and conversion into broadcast‑ready standard formats.
CapIt is more than just a capture tool — it is a workflow optimizer. By combining broad input support, real‑time processing, and direct integration with EDIUS, it ensures your production pipeline is faster, more flexible, and fully equipped for today’s demands. For EDIUS users who need more than basic capture, CapIt is the perfect solution.EDIUS Support
- Accessible directly from EDIUS via the “Tools” menu after installation
- Main window can be minimized to the tray
- Recorded files can be automatically imported into the EDIUS bin

Capture Various Video/Audio Sources
Support USB Camera, Decklink, NDI, streaming media, Z-CAM, phone screen cast, and Windows audio input devices.

Growing MXF – Editing While Capturing
The encoders that support editing while capturing are AVC MXF, Grass Valley HQ MXF, and Grass Valley HQX MXF.
Tip: EDIUS Workgroup (versions 9, X, and 11) as well as EDIUS 11 Broadcast support editing while capturing. EDIUS Pro versions do not include this feature - editing begins once the recording has been completed.
Logo Overlay
Enable this option to embed a logo directly into the recorded video signal.
Mosaic & Gauss Blur Effect
Use these settings during recording to apply a Gaussian blur or mosaic filter to the selected area. The recorded file will immediately contain the blurred or pixelated result in that region. This is particularly useful for data protection scenarios where certain areas must not be captured at all.
